This morning, I was scrolling YouTube when I saw a video titled “August Monthly Reset & Plan with Me 2023.” I thought it was a good idea to do the same thing.

I don’t know if this is stealing the video’s idea, but what matters to me is that I need a fresh start. This year has been more than ordinary for me. I didn’t reach my goals because I didn’t set any goals. I’m losing my motivation, and I’m just living day by day. I don’t know where I’m going or what I want to do.

I’m hoping that by doing a monthly reset, I can get back on track and start achieving my goals. I’m going to set some specific goals for August. I’m also going to create a plan for how I’m going to achieve those goals.

If you don’t have time to read the entire post, here are my goals for August:

  • Goal 1: Get moving. Not less than 5 minutes of physical activity per day.
  • Goal 2: Content creation. Produce and publish regular content.
  • Goal 3: Reading & Listening to Audiobooks.
  • Goal 4: Declutter & Simplifying.

I know that a monthly reset won’t solve all of my problems, but I’m hoping that it will give me a fresh start and help me get back on track. I believe that a short reset can help me break out of this monotony and lack of motivation. This month is a good opportunity, as I will be on vacation for three weeks.

I will try to set small, measurable goals with an alternative for each goal to increase my chances of success.

Goal 1: Get moving

I know that I need to start moving more. I’ve gained a lot of weight in the last few months, and I’m not motivated to start a diet or eat less. I’ve also become very sedentary and lazy. My goal is to start moving more, not to lose weight, but to reconnect with my body and take care of it

As wel all know, it requires a lot of willpower to exercice. That’s why I will start very small.

My objective is simple: Not less than 5 minutes of physical activity per day. This can be a 4-minute Tabata workout, a 7-minute full-body workout, 3 minutes of punching mixed to 2 minutes of any other type of exercise.

Alternatives:

  • 20 minutes of walking. I spend a lot of time at the beach, and I find it very pleasant to walk on the sand.
  • Playing badminton with my nephews.
  • Doing a fitness boxing session on my Nintendo Switch.

Goal 2: Content creation

I have multiple platforms for content creation, including Medium and four YouTube channels. I know that managing four YouTube channels is complicated and makes it difficult to be consistent across all of them. However, I have my reasons for creating four channels (I will talk about this in a separate post).

I want to use content creation to share my thoughts and experiences with others, and make a positive impact by writing. I hope also to monetize one of my YouTube channels in the future.

My objectives are:

Medium:

  • At least one post per week on Medium.
  • How? Write for 5 minutes a day.

YouTube:

  • 1 video per week on my “self-help & passive income” channel.
  • 1 video every 2 weeks on my cooking channel.
  • Continue batch creation and planning shorts on the quizzes channels (2 hours a week).

Goal 3: Reading & Listening to Audiobooks

I have subscribed to a Medium membership, and I am already subscribed to Audible. I want to make it worthwhile.

To do this, I will set the following objectives:

  • Read or listen to 3 Medium posts per day.
  • Listen to 5 minutes of Audible per day.

Goal 4: Declutter and simplifying

I have a lot of stuff, both digital and physical. I have a lot of photos, documents and digital files on my Google drive, my phones, my external disks. I tend to buy a lot of things, and I need to declutter.

During my vacation, I will focus on digital de-cluttering.

Objective:

  • De-clutter for 3 minutes per day. This will allow me to make progress on my de-cluttering goals without feeling overwhelmed.

I hope that by following these objectives, I can make a significant difference in my digital clutter and simplify my life.

That’s it! I won’t set any more goals. I need to keep things simple and easy. I’m a big procrastinator, so I need to make my goals achievable. With this challenge, I need around 35 minutes per day to achieve all my goals, plus 2–3 hours per week for my YouTube channels. I think that’s fair. I can find a total of 35 minutes to an hour throughout the day to work on my goals
